(PALATINE) No one was hurt in a fire Monday night at a Holiday Inn Express in northwest suburban Palatine.

The blaze was reported in the 160-room hotel at 1550 E. Dundee Rd. at 7:26 p.m., according to a statement from the Palatine Fire Department.

Crews arrived at 7:31 p.m. and saw smoke coming from a first-floor elevator equipment room in the six-floor hotel, according to the statement. Smoke was also seen in the hotel lobby and on floors above the blaze.

The fire was under control less than 10 minutes later, according to the statement. All occupants escaped safely and no one was injured.

A damage estimate is not yet available, according to the statement.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
