Police issued an alert Wednesday warning cab drivers about a man with tattoos on his face who has committed two recent robberies in West Town.

The robberies happened in the 1600 block of North Paulina at 10 p.m. on Dec. 19 and in the 1300 block of North Bosworth at 9 a.m. on Dec. 22, according to the community alert from Area North detectives.

In both robberies, the man was picked up at an intersection and asked the driver to take him to one location to pick up a child before going to a second location, police said.

After being taken to the first location, the man got out of the cab, returned with a package and robbed the cab driver.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, between 30 and 40 years old, 6-foot and 6-foot-4, and 260-280 pounds. He has tattoos on his face and wears all black clothing.

Cab drivers are asked to call 911 to report any person that matches the description and has requested or waved down a taxi, and to alert other drivers of the robberies.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (312) 744-8263.
