Fallon’s ‘baby leave’ pre-empts stars plugging new projects

While I’m sure Angelina Jolie, Chris Rock and Cameron Diaz are all happy for Jimmy Fallon and his wife, Nancy Juvonen — celebrating the birth of their second daughter — the blessed event has thrown a monkey wrench into the stars’ promotional plans.

Because the “Tonight” host abruptly decided to take the rest of the week off, NBC will be running reruns of old Fallon shows. Originally, Wednesday’s guest lineup included director Jolie and her “Unbroken” star Jack O’Connell promoting their movie, which has big Oscar buzz; plus Nick Offerman and musical guest Yusuf. On Thursday, Chris Rock would have been there to boost his “Top Five.” Also on the Thursday bill was Ruth Wilson (“The Affair”) and musical guest Foo Fighters.

Finally, Cameron Diaz (“Annie”) and Cedric the Entertainer (“Top Five”) would have been on Friday to round out the week.

The Fallons welcomed their second child on Wednesday. Like her big sister, Winnie Rose, 16 months, little Frances Cole Fallon was born via a surrogate.
