Multiple people were stabbed on board an Amtrak train in Michigan on Friday after the train departed from Chicago, police said.

The severity of their injuries is not yet known, according to police in Niles, Mich. No fatalities have been reported and one suspect is in police custody.

Niles is about 11 miles north of South Bend, Ind., and is a stop for Amtrak trains running from Chicago to various cities in Michigan.

The stabbing occurred about 6:10 p.m. Chicago time, police said.

Amtrak officials could not immediately be reached for comment Friday evening.
