(VILLA PARK) A west suburban homeowner scared off a would-be burglar after a break-in Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to a home in the 600 block of North Wisconsin in Villa Park at 1:18 p.m. for a report of an attempted burglary, police said.

A homeowner said a male suspect rang the door, then broke in after not receiving an answer, police said. The resident scared him off, and the would-be burglar ran away.

Anyone with information is asked to call police and report suspicious activity to 911.
