Monday night, Stephen Colbert took his show to Washington, D.C., and President Barack Obama took over.

“I could be a politician like that,” Colbert said, while snapping his fingers. “But a politician could never do my job.”

Enter Obama.

And while the president is widely known for being late to his appearances, Colbert let him know “I wasn’t expecting you for another 30 minutes.”

Obama delivered a “decree” in place of Colbert’s “word” segment.

“How hard could this be,” Obama said. “I’m just going to say whatever you were about to say.”

Obama began by taking a shot at himself.

“Nation, as you know, I, Stephen Colbert, have never cared for our president,” Obama said. “The guy is so arrogant.”
