(BENSENVILLE) A freight train derailed Tuesday morning near northwest suburban Bensenville, causing delays on Metra’s Milwaukee District / West Line.

As of 6:10 a.m., main track No. 2 was out of service and inbound and outbound trains on the Milwaukee District / West Line were delayed between 15 and 20 minutes, according to Metra’s website.

Inbound train No. 2212, scheduled to depart Roselle at 6:54 a.m., was originating at Franklin Park, and accommodating passengers at Roselle, Medinah and making an extra stop at Mannheim, Metra said.

Additional details on the freight train derailment were not immediately available.
