“Men are from Mars — Women are From Venus LIVE!” headed to Broadway Playhouse

You definitely know the slogan: Men are from Mars; women are from Venus. Now comes the show.

“Men Are From Mars – Women Are From Venus LIVE!,” the one-man fusion of theater and stand-up starring Peter Story — described as “a light-hearted theatrical comedy” based on John Gray’s New York Times #1 best-selling book of the last decade — will stop at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place, 175 E. Chestnut, Oct. 14-19.

Written by Eric Coble and directed by Mindy Cooper, the show, a series of vignettes dealing with everything from dating and marriage to the bedroom, also features animation and video production by Bazillion Productions. First seen in Paris in 2007, it has reportedly been seen by more than one million people around Europe to date. It debuted in the United States in Feb. 2013 in Raleigh, North Carolina, and will be playing to audiences around this country and Canada throughout the year. It is designed for adult audiences.

Known for his appearances on prime time shows on all three major networks, Story’s credits include “CSI,” “Without a Trace,” “Ugly Betty” and recurring appearances on Jay Leno’s “The Tonight Show” and Rob Lowe’s “The Lyon’s Den.” He stars opposite Steve Guttenberg in the cheesy horror film “Cornered” and can be seen opposite Elizabeth Perkins (“Weeds”) in the short “Le Chat Est Mort.” He is an alum of the New Harmony Project and an avid storyteller with “The Moth.” His story of how he and his wife won a dream wedding competition was just featured nationally on NPR’s “The Moth Radio Hour.”

Since its publication in 1992, John Gray’s book,“Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus,” which explores the differences between the sexes, has sold more than 50 million copies and been translated into 40 languages, becoming one of the most recognizable titles in the world.
