With the college selection process completed, Mundelein High School girls basketball standout Lauren Rouse can now turn her full attention to the Turkey Shootout, which is the season-opening varsity hoops tournament that Mundelein hosts each year.

This year, play begins next week Monday, with Mundelein playing Grant at 7:30, after Carmel faces Grayslake North at 4;30 and Highland Park meets Prairie Ridge at 6. Carmel and Grayslake North are the teams that Mundelein figures to be chasing as this tournament unfolds.

Rouse will sign her letter of intent this week to play college basketball at Olivet Nazarene University, which is an NAIA program based in south suburban Bourbonnais.

Rouse plans to major in education or biology, and either become a teacher or pursue a career in the biology field.

In the North Suburban Conference Lake Division, Stevenson is the pick to click, with Mundelein considered one of the contenders that will chase the Patriots.
