Incoming freshman Brendan O’Reilly of Hinsdale Central won the 44th Illinois State Junior Amateur June 27 at Mackray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington. O’Reilly, a Hinsdale resident, won the three-day tournament with a 20-foot par putt on the second playoff hole against Glenbrook North’s Nick Hardy.

O’Reilly shot a career-best 66 in the tournament’s second round.

O’Reilly practices nearly every day at Butterfield Country Club in Oak Brook. He took time from one of his practices on the driving range to provide a tip on chipping.
