Hoosiers II

I’m still at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates. And, in a scene reminiscent of the old Hoosiers movie, Batavia comes out in its red-and-while striped warm-ups and long-sleeved jerseys to play the intercity favorites in Marshall in the nightcap. Perhaps the Bulldogs went out and measured the court dimensions here before the game. I know Batavia is good but I guess I’m a little surprised at how tough it played the mighty Commandos, who held on to beat the Bulldogs 56-55 in a thriller.

In the second game of the night, Fenwick outlasted Jacobs 66-57. The Eagles, looking to open some eyes to FVC basketball, looked tired in the second half as the Friars pulled away late to snap their 13-game winning streak.

By the way, I’m wondering how good this Quincy team must be. It handed Jacobs its only loss of the season before tonight and beat Batavia 57-47 Dec. 22…the attendance for the event totalled 4,224.
