Meatheads is a chain of fast-casual burger restaurants throughout the Chicagoland area. Each month, it recognizes a student-athlete in the area surrounding each location for his or her accomplishments on and off the field.

1. How do you exemplify Meatheads’ values of determination, hustle and hard work?

I exemplify Meatheads’ values of determination because things didn’t always go my way this season, just like every athlete, and instead of giving up, I worked my hardest to prove my abilities and persevere to succeed.

2. What were your greatest athletic and academic achievements over the last month?

My greatest athletic achievement this year was beating Wheaton Warrenville South and keeping the tradition of securing a playoff berth at Naperville North for the 18th year in a row.

3. Is there a teammate, coach, faculty or family member you’d credit most with your athletic and academic successes?

I credit coach Kirkland, our strength and conditioning coach, for pushing me to my limits in the weight room and on the field. He has truly had an impact on my life. Also, coach Elberg, my quarterback coach, has taught me that making mistakes are the root of learning. Coach Drendel has been a great support this season, as well.

4. Where are you going to college, or where do you want to go? Do you plan on playing a sport there?

I plan on playing football in college and I’m speaking with many college coaches right now. I’m trying to narrow down my choice at the moment.

5. Who is your favorite athlete playing today, collegiate or professional?

The NIU quarterback, Jordan Lynch, is a great dual-threat QB, and he’s one of my inspirations.

6. What’s on your iPod right now?

I have a mix of all genres — reggae, classic rock, rap and country. I usually listen to rap with my teammates to get pumped before games.

7. What’s the best movie or television show you’ve seen recently?

I enjoy watching “Hard Knocks” because it’s a behind-the-scenes look at pro football teams.

8. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I plan on pursuing a career in engineering and see myself working in that field, as well as having a family.

9. What is your favorite motivational quote?

“You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.” — Michael Jordan
