With state playoff implications on the line, Raby (7-2) handed Robeson (6-3) its worst public league loss ever Thursday in a Public League playoff at Stagg.

Raby’s Travis Powell returned the game’s opening kickoff  71 yards to the five-yard line. That set up a two-yard touchdown run by quarterback Chris Covington.

Powell caught touchdown passes of 41, 35, and 16 yards. He had six catches for 117 yards and three scores.

Covington completed 15 of 24 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns and scored rushing touchdowns on runs of two and 10 yards.

“The Phillips game (a 53-34 loss) woke us up. I went to each individual coach and player and personally challenged them to give 110 percent for the rest of the season. No more slip-ups.” — Raby coach D’Angelo Dareef
