THE SKINNY

Simeon (3-3, 3-0 Red Bird) recorded a safety on the game’s fourth play and never looked back, cruising to an easy victory Friday against conference rival Vocational at Gately Stadium. Timon Watkins ran for a pair of scores and also threw a touchdown, as the Wolverines dominated all three phases of the game.

TURNING POINT

Following the early safety, Simeon marched down the field in five plays, capped by a Dion Earls 3-yard touchdown run. That gave the Wolverines a 9-0 lead less than five minutes into the game.

THE STAR

When Vocational (4-2, 1-2) loaded up the box to stop the run, Simeon wide receivers Jamar Washington and Raekwon Adams did damage over the top. Both wideouts hauled in touchdowns to put the game out of reach.

BY THE NUMBERS

Simeon’s defense forced five turnovers in the game, which the offense turned into 23 points.
