Jacobs scored on a 52-yard lateral to junior Josh Walker as time expired to secure a 26-20 victory over Crystal Lake South. With the game tied at 20 and less than two seconds on the clock, Jacobs quarterback Bret Mooney scrambled from the Gator 48 and heaved the ball across the field to Walker, who ran it in from the 26.

TURNING POINT

Jacobs (4-2, 3-0) was trailing 20-17 late in the fourth quarter when safety Cody Ferencz recovered a fumble by Crystal Lake South (2-4, 1-2) at the Gators’ 13, resulting in a game-tying 31-yard field goal by Ryan Sargent.

THE STAR

Walker carried the ball 20 times for 179 yards and scored the winning touchdown.

Jacobs averaged 7.8 yards per carry, finishing with 274 yards rushing on 35 attempts. The victory was the fourth in a row overall for the Golden Eagles and their first against the Gators since 2007.
