Lockport’s Kacie Kenney eyes big season

Once again, Lockport will not have a full contingent of gymnasts at meets to score in team competitions but will have a returnee who could make some noise as an individual.

Junior Kacie Kenney made a big impression toward the end of last season when she won the beam event at the SouthWest Suburban Conference meet and finished fourth in the all-around.

Her 9.3 on the beam was the highest score of any event in the meet. She followed that up with a ninth-place all-around effort in regional competition, which was good enough to qualify for sectionals. She finished 18th there to close the season.

Injuries and graduation have left the conference field wide open for the 2013-14 individual all-around title and Kenney figures to be a contender.

Porters senior Kaitlyn Lee and junior Megan Reitenbach are also hoping for big seasons.
