Tourney Time

As far as I’m concerned, there’s one thing that separates basketball from other sports. It’s the excitement of tournament time. Sorry, football and baseball doesn’t have the same intrigue of a regular-season tournament title matchup that these Thanksgiving and now Christmas events can offer. And just in case you needed more, the Martin Luther King weekend tournaments have gained momentum in recent years. I’m planning on posting updates from both the 25th annual D-C girls classic and the Jacobs boys holiday classic right here on the blog throughout tournament season. Here are the Opening Day matchups for the Jacobs Tourney:

Saturday, Dec. 22

9 a.m. Woodstock vs. St. Charles North

10:30 a.m. Prairie Ridge vs. Marian Central

12 p.m. Crystal Lake Central vs. Wauconda

1:30 p.m. Crystal Lake South vs. Mundelein

3 p.m. Johnsburg vs. Elk Grove

4:30 p.m. Lindbloom vs. Bartlett

6 p.m. Barrington vs. Cary-Grove

7:30 p.m. Jacobs vs. St. Edwards
