Two players from Richards and one from Argo were ejected with 50 seconds remaining in the third quarter after an altercation in which coaches from both sides did their best to control the situation. When basketball resumed, Argo (6-11, 3-5) was able to hold off the Bulldogs for the South Suburban Red conference victory.

Anthony Morrison’s two free throws with seconds remaining put the game out of reach for Richards.

THE STAR

Three-year starter Tyler Mitchell led all scorers with 38 points while teammates Bryant Smith (12 points) and Alante Jarrett also scored in double figures. Josh Meier led Richards (12-5, 6-2) with 25 points and 11 rebounds.

BY THE NUMBERS

Mitchell’s 38 points were aided by shooting 20-of-27 from the free-throw line. No Argonaut attempted a free throw until 6:17 left in the fourth quarter.
