SHARE Crete-Monee hires new athletic director

Linda Peete was named athletic director of Crete-Monee at a District201-U school board meeting Tuesday night.

She was approved by a 4-1 vote, with two board members absent.

Peete, who was the girls volleyball coach at Southland College PrepCharter High School in Richton Park this past year, succeeds GeneCahan, whose contract wasn’t renewed.

Peete’s appointment does not come without controversy.A search committee was asked to submit its top three candidates to theschool board in order of preference.

According to sources, GregSchneider was the unanimous pick for the position and was on theagenda to be recommended for the athletic director’s position during aJune 17 school board meeting. The board, however, decided to table theitem and re-open the selection process.

Peete was athletic director of compliance at Chicago State Universityprior to landing at Southland College Prep Charter.
