No Scoring Needed

Some might argue that soccer isn’t as popular in the U.S. because there isn’t much scoring and therefore the game is boring. But Tuesday’s Streamwood Sectional semifinal between Schaumburg and Lake Park was about as thrilling as a soccer match can get despite both teams playing to a scoreless tie after 120 minutes. Every shot on goal was met with oohs and ahhs from the crowd. One goal, after all, might be all the team needs. To me, the anticipation of a score is as exciting as the actual goal itself.

Even though Tuesday’s game lasted more than three hours, I can’t wait to get back Thursday for the final between Schaumburg and Larkin.
