SHARE Lyons athletes rolling in state titles

The state championship won by Lyons’ girls gymnastics team earlier this month was the sixth IHSA title in four years for the school, all in different sports. Kyle Kurfirst, the older brother of state gymnastics champion Kelsy Kurfirst, posted the above highlight video from the gymnastics state meet Feb. 15-16 from Palatine. Kyle has posted more videos at his kurf92 channel on YouTube.

Kelsy and Kyle (pictured right) posed with Lyons’ latest state championship trophy, which might put some pressure on some spring sports teams at the school to come through with another trophy.

Kyle was an all-area standout for Lyons’ 2009 state boys soccer championship team, which started the school’s current run. His video from that team is below.

MORE FAMILY TREES: Matt Robare, a member of Lyons’ 2011 state champion baseball team, is the younger brother of David Robare, who won the 2007 state boys tennis doubles championship with John Smits.
