Girls State Golf … Yoo Hoo

Conant junior Kris Yoo started strong Friday with an even-par 72 to put herself in position to make a run at her first state championship. A golf title would be a first for a Conant boy or girl.

Yoo, who teed off at 8:39 a.m. and is tied with Sterling junior Ember Schuldt for the early afternoon lead, made three birdies and a bogey on the front nine to card a 2-under 34. Her back nine included three bogeys and one birdie for a 38.

While Saturday’s tee times weren’t posted yet, Yoo most likely will start her second round in the afternoon, adding even more drama to her historic opportunity.
