THREE THINGS WE KNOW

No. 1: Marist is for real. The RedHawks won the state’s premier in-season tournament, the Dvorak hosted by Harlem, last weekend with 207.5 points, beating out Montini (186.5) and Marmion (186). Nick Lukanich (113 pounds) and Alex Benoit (182) earned titles for Marist.

No. 2: There might not be a better match all season than the 132-pound final at the Dvorak. In a matchup of three-time defending state champs, Dakota’s Josh Alber (21-0) won a 5-3 sudden victory decision over Glenbard North’s Jered Cortez (17-1).

No. 3: Local teams are headed to a pair of tough out-of-state tournaments Friday and Saturday. Top-ranked Oak Park-River Forest is the No. 1 seed at The Clash National Duals in Rochester, Minn. That 32-team field also includes No. 2 Marist, No. 7 Glenbard North and No. 9 Sandburg. Bound for the Cheesehead Tournament in Kaukauna, Wis., are No. 3 Montini, No. 4 Marmion, No. 5 Lockport, No. 10 Mount Carmel, Plainfield Central and St. Rita.
