After Friday’s practice, brothers Danny and Patrick Ormiston hosted a team cookout for members of the Hinsdale South boys golf team at their Burr Ridge home. The Hornets tied for the West Suburban Gold title Sept. 26 at Willow Crest Golf Club in Oak Brook and compete in the Class 3A Naperville Central Regional Tuesday at Naperbrook.

But what would a team cookout be without a little golf? Danny and Patrick’s father, Brian, built a nearly two-hole course in the family’s front yard. The course shares one green. The first tee even includes a ball washing machine. The second tee is a short chip shot from just in front of the their house’s living room.

On Sept. 27, the family attended the practice rounds and opening ceremonies for the 39th Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club.

“We camped out at No. 17 in the grandstand behind the green. It was kind of cool. We saw most of the players,” Patrick said. “I will remember it forever that I watched the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah.
