Lincoln-Way West 42 Andrew 14

The Skinny

Lincoln-Way West (4-1, 3-0 in the SWSC) avenged a 17-0 loss to Andrew (2-3, 1-2) a season ago. Javier Montalvo totaled 355 yards of offense and five touchdowns for the Warriors.

Turning Point

Andrew drove 72 yards and was faced with a fourth-and-1 at the Lincoln-Way West 12. It fumbled on the play, which was recovered by Lincoln-Way West’s Zach Speaker at the Warrior 8. Lincoln-Way West drove 92 yards from there for its first touchdown.

The Star

Montalvo was a human wrecking ball, bouncing off would-be tacklers to total 261 rushing and 94 receiving yards. His touchdowns covered 4, 6, 52, 83 and 72 yards.

The Numbers

Lincoln-Way West scored on its first three possessions, the first coming via an Andrew fumble inside the Lincoln-Way West 10. The Warriors have allowed 20 points in their last four games.

Quotable

“Our defense stepped it up and we came out here with the mentality to run it down there throats.” – Lincoln-Way West senior running back Javier Montalvo.
