The balance beam can be the great equalizer at a gymnastics meet. Lyons had three falls Monday night, but still held on to win the Hinsdale Central Sectional and gain the first automatic berth into the state meet at Palatine. Lyons actually finished second on the beam (34.80) in the sectional team race. Naperville Central, which finished sixth overall, owned the top team beam score of 34.925.
