Arnold Shead, North Chicago roll by Round Lake

THE SKINNY

Out of playoff contention, North Chicago (4-5) played its best all-around game of the season, finishing with a 49-20 road win over Round Lake (1-8). Three touchdowns in the last 4:23 of the first half broke the game open at 34-6.

TURNING POINT

After Round Lake pulled within 13-6 midway through the second quarter, North Chicago scored three quick touchdowns to take command. Jamal Dixon caught a 33-yard scoring pass from Arnold Shead, Khalil Rogers returned a Panther fumble on the next play 18 yards for a score, and Jamero Shelton caught a 23-yard scoring pass from Shead with 34 seconds on the clock.

THE STAR

Senior running back/linebacker Khalil Rogers capped his prep career in style, rushing 12 times for 58 yards and two touchdowns and returning a Round Lake fumble 18 yards for a score. He’s being recruited by NIU.

BY THE NUMBERS

Shead completed 8 of 12 passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns, and also carried 10 times for 90 yards. For Round Lake, Joey Grennhill had 14 carries for 38 yards and Cole Steger ran 6 times for 80 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown.
