Loyola’s Pat Mahoney and Maine South’s Steve Adams do everything in their power to put their teams and athletes in position to succeed.

Although the Hawks and Ramblers probably don’t like each other very much, nobody can question these two AD’s commitment to athletic excellence. They do everything in their power to put their teams in position to succeed.

People are paying attention as Mahoney is a 2011 inductee into the Chicago Catholic Hall of Fame, and Adams was honored with the Class 3A and 4A Division 2 Athletic Director of the Year award by the Illinois Athletic Directors Association.

Mahoney, a 1990 Loyola graduate, will join a cast of 12 at the ceremony Thursday in McCook.

Before going into administration, Adams coached baseball, basketball and football. Since becoming Maine South’s AD, the Hawks have won three state football titles and a state championship in boys volleyball.
