Jones top four

FOX Sports NEXT four-star offensive lineman Jamarco Jones of De La Salle announced his top four of Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

“These are just the schools that I feel most comfortable with,” Jones said. “I have been visiting a lot of schools over the past year or so and I have gotten to know these coaches pretty well and have gotten pretty comfortable with them.”

There were several things in particular that set the four schools apart from the other dozens of offers that Jones had.

“Each one had great head coaches and great staffs, and you could tell that each one really cared about their players,” Jones said. “From an academic standpoint they are all great schools.”

Jones will make his college decision June 27 after visiting each of the finalists again.

Morgan adds Alabama

Crete-Monee junior linebacker Nyles Morgan might have more than 30 offers but one that he wasn’t expecting came in last week.

“Alabama offered me,” Morgan said. “I mean they won the national title two times straight and they want me to come down for a visit, I mean why not.”

Morgan was humbled by the offer from Alabama and that they stopped by Crete-Monee.

“I wasn’t actually expecting it,” Morgan said. ”They came to the school then they told me head coach Nick Saban wants to offer you a scholarship and I was like wow, it was a shock.”

Adding offers

Three offers came in over three days for Crete-Monee defensive lineman Chris Slayton: Nebraska, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State.

Several other area prospects also added offers in the past few days, including Bolingbrook four-star defensive back Parrker Westphal. Westphal was offered by Syracuse, Mississippi State and Tennessee.

St. Francis running back James Butler has offers from Temple and Eastern Illinois — even though he didn’t play as a junior because of transferring.

“Temple offered me about a month ago, and that really meant a lot because they went off my sophomore film and potential so that meant a lot,” Butler said. “And I just got the Eastern Illinois offer two days ago. That was a surprise. I didn’t expect much because I didn’t get to play this year.”

Andrew junior running back Jarvion Franklin picked up offers from Eastern Illinois and North Dakota. He also has offers from Western Michigan and Ball State.
