Actor/adorable person Jason Segel has added YA author to his resume with the publication of “Nightmares!,” based on his formative years, and he will be making an appearance at the Tivoli Theatre in September to promote it.

The actor, writer and musician, who started on “Freaks and Geeks”, just finished the CBS comedy “How I Met Your Mother,” with Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan, and has also starred in “Despicable Me,” “Jeff, Who Lives at Home,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “The Five-Year Engagement,” and some movie about Muppets. Segel also wrote “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “The Five-Year Engagement,” as well as this song. He most recently starred in “Sex Tape” with Cameron Diaz, which he helped write. Dude’s got skills

The book is the first in a trilogy about a boy named Charlie and a group of kids who must face their fears to save their town. “Nightmares!” is the first book.

Anderson’s is at 123 Jefferson St., Naperville and  5112 Main St., Downers Grove. The Tivoli is at 5021 Highland Ave. in Downers Grove. Visit andersonsbookshop.com.

To attend the 7 p.m. Sept. 14 event, purchase a copy of “Nightmares!” from Anderson’s plus a $6 ticket. There is a three-book limit per person and Jason will personalize one book (and no memorabilia, so leave your Muppets at home).
