SHARE Norridge man shot to death in Portage Park

A northwest suburban man was shot and killed early Wednesday in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The 31-year-old man was driving in the 5200 block of West Waveland about 1 a.m. when a blue SUV pulled up alongside and someone inside fired shots, police said.

The man was shot in the back and his vehicle struck a parked car before stopping, police said.

He was identified as Gabriel Meneses of the 4600 block of North Sayre Avenue in Norridge, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:20 a.m.

Police said he was a documented gang member.
