Teen shot in West Englewood

A 17-year-old boy was shot Wednesday evening in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The boy was standing outside about 5:45 p.m. in the 7100 block of South Bishop when a gray SUV stopped and a male exited the vehicle before opening fire, police said. The shooter then jumped back in the SUV and the vehicle sped away.

The boy was shot in the upper left arm and was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where he was treated and released, police said.

Police said the boy is a documented gang member.
