Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner on Monday dismissed a Chicago Magazine profile that published a story asking “Will the real Bruce Rauner Please Stand Up?”
Rauner shrugged off an assertion in the piece that Illinois voters don’t know the real Bruce Rauner.
“I don’t know, I haven’t seen that article. I’ve been crystal clear about who I am,” Rauner told reporters on Monday. “I’m a native son of Illinois who loves this state passionately. I was born in Chicago, lived basically around here my whole life, raised our six kids here … and I can’t stand to see what’s happening to our state.”
With the gubernatorial election right around the corner, the superrich Republican candidate remains largely a mystery. Maybe that’s part of the plan. —Chicago Magazine
The profile, penned by Chicago writer Carol Felsenthal, delves into Rauner’s personal and professional background as well as his family history.
