WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Wednesday visits  the U.S. Central Command at the MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fl. for briefings on the battle against ISIL. CENTCOM is the military command center dealing with “20 countries in the Middle East and Central and South Asia, including Iraq and Syria.” Later, at the White House, Obama hosts a picnic for members of Congress.

DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2014

In the morning, the President will visit U.S. Central Command at the MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL.  CENTCOM’s area of responsibility includes 20 countries in the Middle East and Central and South Asia, including Iraq and Syria. The President will receive a briefing from his top commanders at CENTCOM, and thank the men and women who will partner with others in the region to carry out the President’s strategy to degrade and destroy ISIL. There will be a photojournalist spray at the top of the briefing, the President’s tour of the Joint Operations Center will be closed press and the President’s remarks are pooled for television cameras and open to still photographers and correspondents.

In the afternoon, the President will return to Washington, DC. The departure from MacDill Air Force Base will be open press, and the President will motorcade back to the White House.

In the evening, the President will host a picnic for Members of Congress at the White House. There will be print pool coverage for remarks only.
