A 16-year-old girl was shot Friday evening in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

The girl was shot in the lower back about 7:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of West 81st Street, police said.

A male fired several shots in the girl’s direction, but she is not thought to have been the intended target, according to a police source. The shooter then ran away.

She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where her condition had stabilized, police said.

The girl was one of 10 people injured in shootings across the city during a four-hour span Friday night. Also, a 21-year-old man was fatally stabbed about 8:25 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Emerald in the Gresham neighborhood, police said.
