Providence senior wide receiver and Notre Dame-bound Miles Boykin added yet another honor to his resume: an invitation to the fourth annual Semper Fidelis All-American game Jan. 4, 2015 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Boykin has accepted the invite.

“It’s just an honor to be recognized as one of the best players in the nation,” Boykin said. “And have a chance to compete with these different players. I was excited when I found out. Just to know that when my high school season ends I’ll still have one more game to play.

“You can’t take anything for granted. You have to always know that people are going to try and put you on their highlight tape, and make big plays on you or a big hit on you,” Bokyin said. “But at the same time you have to stay level headed, and just know that people are going to try to get under your skin but you have to keep playing.”

Collins chooses Illinois State

Illinois State was the first school to offer Phillips senior dual-threat quarterback Dewayne Collins, and after he received the nod he decided to commit.

“[ISU] Coach Kane Kiernan and I have been talking for a while,” Collins said. “And I really like how he is a family man and you can tell. I also like that they believe in me and that they like me as a player. I feel like I will fit in there and can make plays for them.”

He added, “When I found out about the offer I was happy and my family was proud of me.”

Phillips coach Troy McAllister knows the 6-2, 190-pound prospect is the total package.

“When we run our read-option and he turns the corner, he’s gone,” McAllister said. “You don’t touch him. And he’s 6-foot-2, 190 pounds so he can also bring a load when he has to. He’s long, he’s got all the attributes that you want.”

New offers for junior prospects

Scout.com four-star junior offensive lineman Sean Foster of Carmel is up to 10 offers, most recently from North Carolina State and Purdue. He received the Purdue offer while on campus visiting the Boilermakers.

“Coach Hazell took me and my dad into the meeting room and we had a meeting and he broke the news to me and my father,” Foster said.

Fellow junior offensive lineman prospect Loudon Vollbrecht of Geneva has received his first offer and is hearing from plenty of other schools during the early part of the evaluation period for college coaches.

“Recruiting is going well, just getting more contact from schools,” Vollbrecht said. “I have an offer from Illinois, they contacted me and had me out to a camp Downstate. I camped in Champaign and they said they were impressed by my size.”

The 6-6, 265-pound athlete has seen his contact increase drastically in the past few weeks, adding interest from Michigan State, North Carolina State, Nebraska, Oregon and Indiana.
