A man riding in a vehicle was shot in the head early Sunday in the South Side Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

The 34-year-old man was a passenger in a vehicle heading eastbound in the 7700 block of South Stewart a few minutes before 3 a.m., when someone on the street fired shots, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

The man was shot in the head and taken to Saint Bernard Hospital, Gaines said. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
