Colin Farrell will be stepping into a starring role on “True Detective.”

It’s been rumored for some time, but now both HBO and Colin Farrell have confirmed the actor will be stepping into a starring role on “True Detective,” replacing Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson on the hit series.

First reported by Deadline.com, Farrell’s partner on the popular crime series has not yet been determined.

In an interview with Sunday World, Farrell said he was “so excited” to be part of the show. “I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles, which is great.”
