An elderly woman who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease went missing from her Belmont Cragin neighborhood home on the Northwest Side Wednesday afternoon.

Mercedes Sandoval, 71, left her home in the 2500 block of North Lotus about 4:30 p.m. without telling her family, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

She is described as a 5-foot, 95-pound Hispanic woman with brown eyes and black and gray hair. Police said she was last seen wearing a pink sweater with a half zipper, blue jeans and black loafers.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8200.
