An 87-year-old man was struck and killed by a car Friday night a block from his home in Wilmette.

Robert Sullivan was hit by the car in the 1500 block of Sheridan Road and pronounced dead at the scene at 8:01 p.m., the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Sullivan was walking across Sheridan when he was hit by the northbound car, driven by a 51-year-old Evanston woman, just north of the entrance to Plaza del Lago shopping center, near No Man’s Land Pizza, according to the Wilmette police.

An autopsy Saturday found that Sullivan, of the 1600 block of Sheridan Road, died of multiple injuries suffered in the crash, the medical examiner’s office said.

No citations have been issued, Wilmette police Sgt. Solvei Gehrken said.
