A 23-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday in what the police said was a gang-related shooting a block from his home in Back of the Yards on the South Side.

Jose Rios, of the 4300 block of South Paulina, was shot around 6:15 a.m. in the 4500 block of South Hermitage when a van pulled up and someone got out and opened fire, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Shot multiple times, Rios was pronounced dead just before 7 a.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, authorities said.
