LAKE FOREST — After the 100-yard freestyle, the seventh event of the 12-event Lake County Invitational Saturday, the Lake Forest girls swimming and diving team was ahead.

But in the eighth event, the 500 free, Barrington took charge and never looked back. Fillies junior Kirsten Jacobsen won the event with a time of 5 minutes, 6.84 seconds and senior teammate Maggie Emary finished third (5:13.89), leading the Fillies to a team championship in the nine-team Lake County invitational.

In total, the Fillies won three individual events (200 free, 500 free, 100 breaststroke) and one relay (the 200 free in 1:39.03).

Lake Forest, the runner up, had Reilly Lanigan win two individual events. The junior took home a first-place trophy in the 200 individual medley (2:07.96) and 100 butterfly (57.83). Junior Haley Nelson won the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.09. The Scouts won the final event of the day, the 400 free relay, finishing with a time of 3:37.94. It was just ahead of Barrington’s runner-up time of 3:38.05.

Other highlights were Mundelein’s Erin Falconer, who won the 100 free (52.30), and finished runner up to Jacobsen’s 1:52.00 in a thrilling 200 free. Fillies sophomore Andrea Vega won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.83. Warren’s Courtney Baker earned a first-place finish in 50 free (24.18).
