A 23-year-old man was shot in the Armour Square neighborhood on the South Side early Saturday, about a block away from U.S. Cellular Field.
The shooting happened about 4:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of South Wentworth, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said, citing preliminary information. He was struck in the right foot and buttocks.
A friend took the man to Mercy Hospital and he was later transferred to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Sedevic said.
He told officers that he had been standing outside when someone opened fire, but he was not being cooperative with investigators, police said.
