Man fatally shot in Hammond

(HAMMOND, Ind.) A man died Saturday night after he was shot in Hammond, Ind.

Lonnie Williams, 44 of the 1000 block of Bauer Street in Hammond, was pronounced dead at Franciscan St. Margaret Health at 11:22 p.m. Saturday, the Lake County Coroner’s office said in a statement.

Williams died from gunshot wounds in the same block where he lived, and his death was ruled a homicide, the coroner’s office said.

Hammond police could not immediately reached for details.
