Woman accidentally shot by boyfriend in South Chicago

A woman was accidentally shot by her boyfriend while the two were laying in bed Saturday in the South Chicago neighborhood.

The 20-year-old woman told police she was in bed with her boyfriend, also 20, in the 7900 block of South Manistee about 5:30 p.m. and he was playing with a revolver, according to a police report.

The man was spinning the cylinder of the revolver when she heard a clicking noise, and then a gunshot, according to the report. She realized she was shot in the left thigh.

She was taken in good condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.

The woman told police the shooting was an accident and she did not want to prosecute.
