Still friends: Chris Martin invited to Gwyneth Paltrow’s birthday bash

Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s marriage may have ended, but the friendship has remained.

The old line about “actions speak louder than words” could be applied to Gwyneth Paltrow’s big 42nd birthday party the actress threw for herself at her Los Angeles home Saturday. The point? While the Oscar winner and her ex-hubby Chris Martin have consistently said they remain friends despite their “conscious uncoupling” and are commited to co-parenting their children, it was nice to see Martin was among the guests on hand to help Paltrow celebrate Saturday.

According to sources, this is merely yet another occasion when Martin and Paltrow have spent time together. “Chris often is with just Gwyneth and the kids,” said a longtime Hollywood friend of the couple late Sunday. “They are doing a great job of keeping things relaxed and natural.”

Among Paltrow’s pals on hand for the big bash were Kate Hudson, Maya Rudolph, Tobey Maguire and his wife, Jennifer Meyer, Rashida Jones and Nicole Richie.

It’s not known if Martin’s new love, Jennifer Lawrence, was invited to the party, but it IS known Paltrow completely approves of the new relationship.

“Gwyneth thinks Jennifer is a good match for Chris,” added the source.
