A man was killed and two other people were hurt in a shooting late Sunday night in South Chicago.

The three were standing outside in the 8500 block of South Escanaba about 11 p.m. when a light-colored vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

Miguel Hernandez, 24, had been standing on the front porch of a home and was shot in the right side of the head, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Hernandez, who lived on the block where the shooting happened, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:42 p.m., authorities said.

An 18-year-old woman was shot in the left leg and taken to Stroger Hospital and a 35-year-old man was shot in the hand and taken to South Shore Hospital, Greer said. Both of their conditions have since stabilized.

Police said the man who was killed had connections to a gang.
