SHARE Police issue warning to community about armed robberies in Kenwood

Police are warning residents of the South Side Kenwood neighborhood after several people were robbed at gunpoint over the last month.

The robbers walk up to victims, pull out a handgun and demand property, according to the community alert issued by Area Central detectives.

The robberies happened:

-in the 900 block of East 49th Street at 8:29 p.m. on Sept. 2;

-in the 1100 block of East 47th Street at 3:22 p.m. on Sept. 3;

-in the 1100 block of East 46th Street at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 21;

-in the 1300 block of East 48th Street about 10 p.m. on Sept. 24.

After one of the robberies, the suspects took off in a gray vehicle, described as possibly a Chevrolet Malibu or Chevelle with partial license plate Z66815.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call detectives at (312) 747-8382.
