(GARY, Ind.) A man was shot to death in a vehicle Monday afternoon in northwest Indiana.

Officers found Jeffrey J. Martinez, 40, unresponsive “with no signs of life” in a vehicle in the 600 block of East 39th Place in Gary at 3:48 p.m., according to police and the Lake County (Ind.) coroner’s office.

Martinez, of the 5600 block of Hayes Street in Merrillville, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the coroner’s office.
