Senior Joe Uvelli, who has verbally committed to the Purdue baseball team and is one of the state’s top pitching prospects, is now a student at Ridgewood.

Uvelli attended Elmwood Park his first three years of high school. He and his family moved to Norridge before the current school year.

Uvelli’s transfer will likely give the Rebels two Division I baseball players on their roster this spring. Ridgewood junior shortstop Michael Ruffolo has verbally committed to Indiana State.

Ridgewood lost to Vernon Hills 12-2 in six inning in the Class 3A regional finals in 2014.
